Profs. Bonassar, Cohen, Fortier, and Delco win 2022 Kappa Delta Anne Doner Vaughn Award

Professors Larry Bonassar, Itai Cohen, Lisa Fortier, and Michelle Delco are the 2022 recipients of the 2022 Kappa Delta Anne Doner Vaughn Award from the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).  Their paper “All Mechanics are Local: Understanding the Micromechanics and Mechanobiology of Cartilage in Functional Joint Health, Disease, and Repair” describes a 15-year collaboration applying tools in microrheology, vibrational spectroscopy, confocal microscopy, and cell biology to understand the microstructural basis for cartilage mechanics and the mechanobiology of articular chondrocytes.  This award recognizes the technical achievements of this work and its relevance to cartilage health, disease, and therapy.
The Kappa Delta Awards have been presented by the AAOS since 1950 to persons who have performed research in orthopaedic surgery that is of high significance and impact. The award will be presented at the 2022 meeting of the ORS in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, February 6.
Congratulations and thanks to all members of our groups past and present who have contributed to this work!
