Dr. Robby Bowles Promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure at the University of Utah

Bonassar Lab alum Robby Bowles was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Utah.  Dr. Bowles received his MS and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell, where he developed novel approaches to tissue engineering of whole intervertebral discs.  Notably, he pioneered the first successful in vivo transplantation of tissue engineered intervertebral discs into the spine, reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA (https://www.pnas.org/content/pnas/108/32/13106.full.pdf).

He has been a member of the faculty in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Utah since 2015.  His laboratory focuses on the use of genome editing to modulate inflammation and catalyze regeneration in the treatment of degenerative disc diseases (https://www.bme.utah.edu/profile/?unid=u0958274).

Congratulations to Robby on this great achievement!
