Cartilage articulation exacerbates chondrocyte damage and death after impact injury, an article by Steven Ayala in collaboration with Professors Larry Bonassar, Itai Cohen, Lisa Fortier, and Michelle Delco was selected as the JOR Editor’s Pick Article. This article focuses on investigating post-traumatic osteoarthritis through a combined loading model utilizing both impact injury and repetitive sliding to quantify and track chondrocyte viability, apoptosis, and mitochondrial depolarization in a depth‐dependent manner via confocal microscopy.
